Food & Disaster Relief

Local & Regional Impact

Midwest Food Bank serves over 755 nonprofit organizations locally. Through our locations in Illinois, Indiana, & Georgia allows many nonprofit organizations and volunteers to take part in our monthly distributions and daily activities. Each month, weeks are dedicated as "Load-Out Week". During that period, organizations come in to pick up food which they then distribute to people in their communities. Numerous volunteers also participate throughout the week to make it all possible.

Disaster Relief

Midwest Food Bank formed a parternship in 2005 with The Salvation Army during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Through the years with hurricane disasters in the south and flooding in the midwest, Midwest Food Bank has continued to help as much as possible. We have delivered multiple semi loads to: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, & Texas.

International Outreach

Midwest Food Bank provides via our partners food & supplies all over the world - from countries affected by natural disaster to places enduring economic despair. MFB food & supplies have been distributed in nearly 20 countries through missionary partnerships at orphanages, schools, and clinics.

Tender Mercies

The Tender Mercies program was initiated at Midwest Food Bank (MFB) that addresses two of the most unjust hardships – hunger and lack of nutrition. This cross-cultural product is a dried, prepackaged meal that will serve 4 to 6 people. If water can be heated to a boil, a soul can be satisfied with a warm, flavorful and nutritious meal. They are distributed via our locations, backpack programs, relief centers and food pantries in the USA and in other countries across the globe. Learn More
