A car drove around Waterbury Worship Center Church a few times. It was a day when food was being distributed for free, and volunteer Ruth Ann Barrett noticed the car. That's when she looked for an opportunity to approach the driver and have a conversation.
The volunteer team at Waterbury Worship Center built a bridge and eliminated this woman's reluctance and embarrassment in receiving food. She left with a bag of groceries they had packed for her.
"The Worship Evangelical Ministry Team loves to serve others," says Ruth Ann. "We know we are doing the work God wants us to do, like Jesus, by feeding the hungry and sharing the Gospel."
Waterbury Worship Center Church is one of the agency partners of Midwest Food Bank New England. They have two food programs - the drive-through event once a month and a Saturday event where food, clothing, personal care items, and blankets are distributed at a local park. This unique connection allows the volunteer team to pray for people and share the Gospel. They reach about 200-400 individuals through both food programs.
The Worship Evangelical Ministry Team at Waterbury Worship consists of about a dozen volunteers. The food they receive from MFB New England helps them facilitate these food programs.
"Midwest Food Bank is a divine answer to our prayers," says Apostle Royal J. Moore I, a leader at the church.
Midwest Food Bank nonprofit partners must be 501(c)3 charities. They are not charged for food received from MFB, and they agree to give it away free of charge. Waterbury Worship Center Church is one of the 2,050 food partners served nationally and worldwide by MFB.
