On September 3, Spread Truth launched a partnership with the government of Kenya. Midwest Food Bank has a partnership with Spread Truth, a Bloomington, IL based non-profit, whose mission is to equip Christians to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

On that day, an estimated 2,000 families in Kivingoni received food from Kapu Africa (Midwest Food Bank Africa). This location has missed rains for the last four rainy seasons.

Godwin Matswa of Kapu Africa arrived at 12;30 p.m. He was able to speak to the local people about the nutritional value of Tender Mercies and how to cook it. The distribution amounted to 10 tonnes.

Jerry McCorkle, founder of Spread Truth, and his wife were on hand to help with the evangelizing at the First Baptist Church Kivingoni. The combination of love and food helped some people there give their lives to Christ.

On September 5, an event was held in Dandora 30 km from Nairobi, Kenya's capital. Dandora is the main waste and sewage dumping site for Nairobi. There high rates of crime and HIV/AIDS.

Godwin also went to this event. He arrived at 8:00 a.m. and cooked 3 bales of Tender Mercies that were distributed to 1,000 people. These people then received 14 packets of meals for their families (on average, meals for six days).

"Seeing the horrible living conditions - 13 people living under one roof - made me realize that I should not complain," says Godwin.

Jerry McCorkle, founder of Spread Truth, and his wife helped distribute some Tender Mercies bales. Later, testimonies were heard at the Gospel Tabernacle church. Godwin also had an opportunity to talk about Tender Mercies.
