Central Storehouse furthering the MFB Mission

Loving neighbors. Feeding souls. Those are great taglines, but the action that follows goes beyond words.

Those taglines are the action of Central Storehouse, a food pantry in Fort Worth, TX, that is a ministry of Central Bible Church. The pantry receives food from Midwest Food Bank Texas.

"Midwest Food Bank is a critical partner of the Central Storehouse," says Jon Rhiddlehoover, Storehouse Director. "We are in contact weekly, and the way they respond makes you know they care for us and our ministry efforts. What a blessing it is to have them on our team."

Central Storehouse serves about 60 families each week without qualification. About 50 volunteers each month make that happen.

"I love the open door feel of the Central Storehouse where all are welcomed to come to the table," says Jon.

Volunteers share scripture and pray with the families as they receive food. Jon shares a story about a single mother with an illness and no transportation. She took her kids to the bus stop, and the driver allowed the family to board without a pass. They were dropped off at Central Storehouse, where they received food, prayer, and a ride home.

"Only God knew what she needed and when she needed it, and He provided for her need," says Jon.

Another time, a woman came who did not need food but requested prayer for her husband. He was outside in the car and had been recently injured in a work accident. The team went out, surrounded the car, and prayed for them. Later the woman shared that God was healing her husband.

While Central Storehouse says MFB is a critical partner, the sentiment goes both ways. Volunteers from Central Bible Church help in many ways and they recently hosted the MFB Volunteer Appreciation Dinner providing the space and technical support and clean up.

"Central Storehouse is a wonderful partner, furthering the MFB mission of sharing the love of Christ," says Rhonda Revels, MFB Texas Community Development Coordinator. "And their support for MFB is truly a blessing."
