Indy Mayor Heads "Caravan of Care"

On 16 Dec 2011, Mayor Greg Ballard headed up a "Caravan of Care", delivering over 12,000 pounds of food and over $7,500 in donations to the Midwest Food Bank Indianapolis Division.

Part of the mayor's Pack the Pantries Campaign, the caravan started downtown at the Indianapolis City/County building and drove with police escort several trucks loaded with food for the needy to MFBIndy on the south side of Indianapolis. In total, 12,125 pounds of food were given as well as monetary support for our Ministry here.

Mayor Ballard held a press conference at the MFBIndy distribution center, and over 50 volunteers and city employees unloaded the gift and packaged their offerings to distribute next week to the helpless and hurting in our community.
