Lee County Homeless Coalition awards grant

The Lee County Homeless Coalition recently awarded a $5,000 grant to Midwest Food Bank Florida. It was requested to help offset the cost of fuel and delivery of food donations.

While many food items are donated to MFB, we often have to cover the cost of transporting them to our warehouse. Each year, MFB Florida spends over $125,000 on fuel/delivery expenses. This grant will help put MFB in a position to rescue food when a call comes. Whether the donation comes from across the country in a semi or across town in a box truck, we want to be able to have food for our partner agencies and the people they serve.

Every dollar counts when it comes to making our budget work. Only through grants and donation dollars are we able to fund the expense of moving food. We extend our sincere thanks to the Lee County Homeless Coalition for their generous gift.
