Monsoon Disaster Relief

During the evening on August 2, a powerful monsoon storm swept through the Phoenix area. The hardest hit area was just southwest of Phoenix in Rainbow Valley. Fierce winds and rain destroyed at least 15 homes and damaged many others.

When the news hit, Midwest Food Bank immediately reached out to the on-site support team with the American Red Cross. Our call reached the team just as they had returned to their base to figure out how to get food to the displaced families. The timing was perfect and the need was immediate.

Midwest Food Bank quickly loaded enough food and water for 50 families. we then delivered it to the distribution point at Buckeye Valley Fire Station 326.
